Tradition. Is it just an act to be followed by future generations? Who makes those traditions? Arent traditions made up by human beings just like you and me?
Now, let me ask you this question. Is it cruel to kill a dog/whale/dolphins/sea turtles? Well to some of you it may not be that cruel, but what if i told you that they sometimes get killed slowly like being hit multiple times on the head and body and slowly suffer the pain and die? Now, would you say that it is cruel to let an animal die like this? Yet there are still traditions around the world who continue to kill dogs this way as they have several beliefs. I'm not opposing them, i'm just here to say what i want others to know. Where then do we draw the line between traditions? And yes i've heard of stories of people actually abusing animal to the point of its death.
Whaling, yes whaling, a long problem ever since some found its usefullness. Yet only a small portion of its body is being used.. and what happens to the rest of its body? Get discarded into the bins? Yes some parts of the whale do get eaten in Japan but with the whale population decreasing, I cant help but to wonder why people are still hunting whales. When do we realise that its too late to turn back the hands on the clock? When species of animals start to get extinct? Or when the food chain gets inbalanced due to a lack of predator on a certain prey? Do we really need to eat whale meat or have their fat turned into oil for our use? Is it really necessary? That is my next question to you.
